Here are some photos of the special ponies and horses that we have been blessed to love and partner with through the years. They all have moved onto greener pastures, and we miss them.
Trigger, my first pony. He taught me SO much! I did everything with him, from showmanship (which I won) to riding gymkhana bareback without a helmet (times certainly have changed!) at the York County (Nebraska) Fair 4-H show. Gene Bergen was our 4-H agent. What a wonderful person.
Jody, my Quarter Pony mare. She was a great pleasure to ride and very sweet. She was up for anything I asked of her.
Rushcreek Rocket, a wonderful part Arab, part Thoroughbred mare. She loved to go out riding but always had to run at least one circle around me before she 'let' me catch her. She was owned by Jean and Gloria Fells of Fells Folly Arabians. Glo was my 4-H club leader.
Pete, the Arab stallion. He was extremely well mannered and loved going out for a ride. His registered name was Daaraz. Pete is the stallion I look to as my role model for my stallion Cliff. Thankfully, Cliff has grown up to be just as kind and well-mannered as dear Pete. Pete was owned by Jean and Gloria Fells of Fells Folly Arabians. He came off a cattle ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska.
Hank, Jody's half-Arab son. Nothing ever scared him on the trail, even cattle running through the underbrush.

My sweet Arabian mare, Meg. We spent a lot of time on the trail together. She was very dear.
Joe with Meg
Beau (Welsh/Arab cross). He was such fun to ride on the trail. He also was very athletic. It was nothing for him to switch leads back and forth on a straightaway.
Jake, my purebred Arabian gelding. He loved to trail ride and always wanted to join in the fun when elk were running across a meadow. He also was a walking machine and would just eat up the trail.

Sarah and Joe with Metro, purebred Connemara. Metro was game for anything: driving, competitive trail riding, dressage, 4-H. He was a tremendous athlete.
Sarah with our beloved Quarter Horse Jesse Smokin Doc. Bred for cow work, he was a happy fellow and great fun.
