Cobbergate's full sister, Munkholm Colooney, competed at the European Dressage Championships several times with different riders: 1997 Danish Team Silver, Individual 7th place; 1998 Danish Team Silver, Individual 7th place. In a book about German Riding Ponies, Colooney is shown as an example of rhythm and tact.
Cobbergate's Sire: Ardnasillagh O'Flaherty (Bridge Boy x Ardnasillagh Treasure) earned the highest possible Danish inspection rating of 1KL. He also was named Best of Show at the end of the 1977 inspection. The inspectors' comments were: "An extremely typical, strong and harmonious Connemara stallion. Strong and masculine head. Good back. Good hindquarters. The wither could be a little more pronounced. Extremely good and stout limbs. Exceptional good movement."
He has since been named a Danish Elite Stallion based on points earned due to the quality and success of his progeny. O'Flaherty also has an exceptional show record: 1977 Champion Stallion, Roskilde Festival, Denmark; 1982 European Dressage Championships, Danish Team Silver, Individual 9th place; 1983 European Dressage Championships, Individual 12th place; 1988 Champion Connemara Stallion, Finnish All Pony Breed Show; 1991 Champion Stallion & Best in Show Reserve Grand Champion, Finnish Connemara Pony Breed Show In her book "Out of the Mist" Pat Lyne writes: "He was a strong pony in every sense of the word. . . he moved with a cultivated extravagant action which he displayed with great aplomb in the Dressage Arena." Arndnasillagh O'Flaherty's Dam: Ardnasillagh Treasure (Inver Revel x Kilbricken Pride) earned the highest Danish inspection rating of 1KL. Due to the unequaled quality and success of her progeny, Treasure is the highest ranked Danish Elite Mare with 490 points. As an 18 year old, she also was named Champion Mature Mare at the 1981 Swedish Festival. Cobbergate's Dam: Oxenholm Cora (Carrabaun Boy x Strandhill Colleen) earned the Danish inspection score of IIA. Due to the quality and success of her progeny, she also earned the coveted title of Danish Elite Mare. Her sire Carrabaun Boy won Ireland's Clifden stallion class in 1972. Oxenholm Cora's Dam: Strandhill Colleen (Bridge Boy x Leam Lassie) earned an inspection rating of llA. The Danish inspectors' comments: "A riding pony of the noble type. Good little head but with prominent forehead. Big eyes. Good neck. Suitably good shoulder. The back is a little long. Good hindquarters. Quite good movement." Roxanne's Dam: Bright Pearl (Flagrant x Blossom Honey) won the Elite Mare Show in 1992 to earn her designation as a Federal Premium Mare. Two of her foals have won the coveted golden medal award at the Wickrath Breed Show. Pearl has two Federal Premium Mare daughters, so far. Her impressive show record includes 2002 Champion Connemara Mare at EQUITANA Open Air at age 13.
